Working with Doug
Before working with Doug I was a reformed serial dieter who realised even the “goal” number on the scale didn’t make her happy. I explained my feelings to Doug and he understood. I wanted to feel strong, look healthy and not live tied to a meal plan. He was up for the challenge and I was a challenge! I work full time with three kids while my husband was in school in another province….. during a pandemic.
I had to workout at home in a small window of time before my day started with limited equipment. Doug built a plan to fit my life, made sure I was getting enough protein to help repair my muscles and changed how I feel about myself!!
It wasn’t easy, but he never made me feel bad about bumps in the road. Bumps happen just keep going! 3 months later and I love the changes I see for in myself. I feel and look strong! I even had a stranger tell me a story about their daughter who has an athletic built “much like you”……. Like me!!! I wear scrubs and someone called me athletic!!
The point of this story is that Doug will listen to your goals and help you make it happen! Truly a wonderful experience.

In person Training!
I thought the session went very well, and I found it extremely helpful. I have already used the running techniques we discussed. Unfortunately, I have not encountered any rowing WODs yet, so I will have to hang on to that knowledge. I am hoping to spend a bit more time on the rower and continue with some of the drills you introduced. The arms-only and legs-only drills were extremely helpful in isolating what part of the body needs to be doing the work at the different stages of the stroke. I may even use these as cueing exercises before I do a rowing WOD. Additionally, now I know that I should be setting the footpad to #2. All these little things will no doubt help make a big difference. The one running WOD I encountered since our session was a great test. Fortunately, it started with a 400M run, and I used your techniques right away, and it felt great.
All in all, I was able to extract a number of huge takeaways from the session, so thank you very much! It was time well spent!

It's been a great experience working with Doug – just the right amount of accountability, warm encouragement, insightful suggestions and humour to get me back into the gym and out on the trails to prepare for my first big trail race in years.
